We have many exciting and dynamic Adult Sunday School and other classes that meet evenings or during the week throughout the year at Mt. Zion UMC. Find the one that works for you!

Adult classes vary in age range. Study formats include a combination of lecture & discussion, ranging from Bible study to family and social issues related to scripture.  In addition to our existing classes, Adult Education begins something new, hosted by the experienced teachers of our existing classes.  Sunday School classes meet from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. unless otherwise noted. Open to all who are new or seeking variety in a short-term study format. No registration is required.

Meet in the Upper Room This class is for those who wish to grow in a relationship with Christ and each other as we all traverse busy lives together. Lessons will focus on independent weekly studies designed to help busy young couples

Open Table - Parents with Kids in Elementary and Middle School


Meet in the Clubhouse We seek to learn more about our faith, to share ideas about practical application of faith—from raising children to managing careers to strengthening marriages—in this self-taught class with volunteers leading discussion. Meet in Clubhouse Room 405 We focus on Bible studies and life application of the lessons for Christian families. We try to maintain a relaxed fellowship with a small-group atmosphere and an emphasis on service, helping in various missions. GEMS - Good Enough Moms | Daytime


GEMS is a group for mothers with any age children, to support, encourage, and have fun together. We know that a mother can be stressed out and try to stretch herself too thin, which inevitably leaves a feeling like she’s just not good enough, doing enough or being the best she can be…. This group meets every Thursday (starting August 22) in the kids center starting at 10 am. Moms are welcome to bring any little ones not involved in preschool. Because we are moms we can multitask...we can have topical parenting discussions, meet other moms and watch our kids play! Join us!! GEMS (Good Enough Moms) is a group for Moms with any age children, meeting to support, encourage, and have fun together. This group meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 -7:15 after WOW Dinner in the Mezzanine, unless otherwise noted. Dads


Are You a Dad? If so, we have a group for you! Join Dan Edmonds and Jack McCord as they host a laid back gathering of guys every Wednesday night from 6:15-7:15pm in the lounge (room with couches by the gym). Every week varies from short devotions or service work around the church, but every week the goal is just to meet and know more guys around the church. For Dads with any age children. Infants may stay with Dad. Childcare available at no charge. Please check the event calendar for specific meeting dates.

Join Reverend Debra Stewart for the Pastor's Class on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 - 7:15 pm. Drop in any WOW Wednesday in the Upper Room for this lectionary-based Bible study. We present and discuss the scripture passage from each week’s revised common lectionary. No prep work required. Come as you can, each night is a stand alone discussion. Meets regularly following WOW dinners. Check the event calendar and class schedule for exception dates.




Monday Morning "The Well"


Women’s Study & Discussion - 9:45am - noon The Well is a Bible study group which began almost 20 years ago to draw women of different ages and at different life stages together. The Women of The Well develop close bonds through Bible and book study. In addition to study, we support each other through times of need and rejoice with each other through times of praise. UMW Mary and Martha


The Mary and Martha Circle is a group of women who want to strengthen our Christian relationships through fellowship, fun, reaching out to others and supporting our church. The circle meets each month on the 3rd Thursday evening.




UMW Early Bird Circle


The Early Birds Circle is a group of women who meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 9:30 A.M. in the Youth Center. We put our words into action through various "hands-on" projects throughout the year supporting the Mt. Zion Craft Show, local nursing homes, Mt. Zion shut-ins, MUST, and various charities. We also have a mix of programs ranging from summer field trips to health experts to mission speakers.




UMW Dorothea Circle


We are a special group of women ages 60+ who meet for fellowship, refreshments, and occasionally scheduled programs on the 2nd Tuesday of every other month beginning in February. The meeting place is listed in the church bulletin/newsletter two Sundays before the meeting.




UMW Susanna Circle


The Susanna Circle is a group of women dedicated to supporting each other through Christian fellowship and reaching out to others in our community, our nation, and the world through our service projects. We hold monthly meetings in the comfort of members’ homes on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm




UMW Alleluia Circle


The Alleluia Circle is a group of women of all ages who meet for Christian fellowship at local restaurants and members homes one Thursday evening of the month, 6:30 -8:30 pm. We welcome all women of the church and community.




UMW Keepsake Quilters


The purpose of Keepsake Quilters is the enjoy fellowship while sewing for charity. We meet twice a month to sew. Keepsake Quilters started with the purpose of designing and sewing the craft show quilt. We quickly expanded our vision into sewing quilts for many charities such as: DFACS, Red Cross, Grand Junction Camp for Chronically Ill Children, Project Linus, Tiny Stitches, and other various charities.




Tiny Stitches Circle


We are very excited about ourTiny Stitches projects that reach out to children locally and globally. We meet the third Thursday of each month from 9:30 AM - noon. As women and mothers, we are natural nurturers and enjoy making items that will be used to help new mothers clothe their babies and sweaters that will warm children worldwide during the winter. Choir

Echoes of Joy (Handbells)


This group plays regularly in worship services and on holiday seasons. Dedicated musicians to rehearse weekly is required. Exciting and challenging music is prepared.




Chancel Choir


The backbone of the music program is represented in this outstanding group of faithful, dedicated musicians. The very best variety of choral repertoire is offered. This choir sings every Sunday and membership is open to all who genuinely want to sing to the Lord. Even if you do not read music or your schedule requires you to occasionally miss rehearsal, come join this exciting choir. Music is rehearsed up to two months in advance.
