The Mt. Zion UMC Youth Sports Ministry is Christ-centered and has been dedicated to helping boys and girls enjoy fun sports, improve their skills, and grow in a safe environment since 1987. The Youth Sports Ministry staff is highly experienced in managing youth sports and ministering to children and youth. Christ-centered devotions are shared for each activity.
Players are grouped primarily by skill level, and we honor carpool requests if possible. The effective date for age participation is June 1, 2018. Ages 9-14 are eligible. Our leagues are coed. Go to http://mtzionumc.org/ysm or email email@example.com for more info.
The Basketball Dreams camps sponsored by Hoops2Heaven are as follow: June 4-7 M-Th (9:30 am to 12:30 pm), July 9-12 M-Th (1:30 pm to 4:30 pm) and July 25-27Wed-Fri (9:30 am to 1:30 pm) for ages 6-14.
You will have two practices or games on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evening for seven weeks. The Hoops2Heaven summer season runs from the first week of June through the end of July with a break for June 18-22 and July 4th. Season ends July 27.
Coach Dan began the Mt. Zion UMC basketball ministry in 1987. He has coordinated, directed, and coached in the youth sports ministry and brings a wealth of experience in mentoring coaches and working with young people. Dan is also the chaplain for a local high school football team and is employed as an area representative for the North Fulton Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Coach Trey has participated in our year-round ministry since 2012 and is our director of operations. He is well president and owner of Train ‘Em Up LL and trains many young people in innovative basketball and training techniques. He is the coach and director of player development for Georgia Kings AAU U12. Trey is employed as an area representative by the Urban Atlanta Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Coach Matt has 20+ years of experience in basketball instruction and summer camps after a career as a Division I player. He is the owner of Basketball Dreams, Inc. and has provided this very popular summer camp experience for Hoops2Heaven since 2013.
